I do believe some jazz was promised to you a long time ago. First featured artist: Miles Davis.

One of the central figures of jazz in the 20th century, Miles Davis was at the forefront of multiple musical developments and the emergence of a plenitude of styles. He spearheaded the emergence of be-bop, hard bop, cool jazz, free jazz, fusion, funk and techno music. Keeping ahead of the game and consistently reinventing his musical style, the various lineups of his band, all of which were very successful, were always full of young brilliant players. Because of his success, many other artists were propelled to high levels of fame. Some of the famous jazz artists who owe their success to Miles include John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, J.J. Johnson, Cannonball Adderley, Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans, Wayne Shorter and Chick Corea. Davis received various rewards in his lifetime, including eight Grammy Awards and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. Miles Davis was one of the best, most innovative, popular and influential musicians of the 20th Century.

So I had to house/dog sit this week and I realized one major thing. Well two. Observation #1: I have no patience. Shocker, I know. I already knew I sort of failed in that department, but what can you do. Observation #2: Having a dog is a lot like having a child. Whining? Not amused. Barking? infuriating. Begging? Good luck.

But then again maybe it’s just because it’s not MY dog. Plus said dog does a lot of the above, so suck it dog.

Moving on. Tonight I’m going to dance to some live country/funk/blues music at a local venue called the Black Cat. But first I have class and a lot of work to do. Not sure why you’d want to know that, but nonetheless there it is.

Lastly, I think I’m going to start using the acronym “RCT” a lot. As in, whoa gettin the RCT I see. Or, it’s the RCT, NBD. Or, just simply, ohhh, the RCT. At which point you’d get a nod of approval. Oh by the way, RCT = red carpet treatment. Think of the possibilities.

Hear ye hear ye! I’m kicking off the weeks of solemn silence with a shout out to MEGHAN STEUER who is one of the lovers of my life for the following reasons:

1) She reads my blog every day.

2) She still reads my blog every day even though I haven’t posted something in, oh two weeks or so.

3) Butler is going to the Sweet 16666666!!

3) She’s one of the classiest ladies I know.

4) She always wears really cute headbands and I get really JEALOUS.

…and finally, BECAUSE HER AND I PERFORM THE BEST RENDITION OF MAN IN THE MIRROR SINCE MICHAEL JACKSON HIMSELF.

So. I’m officially on my Spring Break. Haven’t had a Spring Break in …I guess 4 years? Kiiinndddd of awesome. So to start it off I went to some museums, including the Newseum and the National Art Gallery. I’m going to post some pictures from the past few days. Some of my favorite works, you know, so you can enjoy the cultural ride with me.

I must say, it’s quite refreshing not going out on the weekend. It’s 10am and I’ve already cleaned my room, eaten breakfast and now I’m at a coffee shop sipping a fresh cup of joe and working on a paper on the Iraqi constitution. And, I’m actually kind of …enjoying it?
